Larry Oakley was born and raised in downtown Toronto, Ontario.
He graduated from Riverdale Collegiate and Ryerson University before becoming a professional accountant.
He became passionate about hunting and the outdoors when he moved to Kingston.
The Kingston Whig-Standard, a newspaper owned by Sun Media, gave him his start as an outdoor writer. He has has published two books, Inside the Wild, and Inside the Wild 2.
Larry is a member of the Outdoor Writers of Canada and the Outdoor Writers Association of America.
He is a long-time member of the Mitten Lake Hunting Camp near Kaladar, Ontario.
