Peter Paproski was born in Edmonton, where Ice Cream Stories about Dad is set. He moved to Ottawa with his family in 1968, at age twelve. He attended the University of Alberta (B.Sc.) and McGill (M.A. Education), and for thirty years worked in international development assistance. In the global south, he was lived for extended periods in Haiti, Bosnia-Herzegovina, and Egypt. Peter and his spouse moved to Montreal in 2013, leaving his last government position in Washington, D.C. He is, happily, now finding the time to pursue his passion for writing. He is also an amateur musician.
