JUDITH MILLAR’S 1992 fiction collection, The Rules of Partial Existence, explored themes of escape and difference in the exotic setting of Nepal. With its return to her small-town Ontario roots, Grave Concern (2012), the first of her playful “Pine Rapids” mystery novel series, garnered praise in The Globe and Mail and The North Renfrew Times alike. Its sequel, Riotous Assembly, continues the madcap adventure. Millar’s fiction, non-fiction, poetry and reviews have appeared in literary magazines and anthologies such as Prairie Fire and The Dry Wells of India, trade magazines EXPLORE and AlbertaViews, and news dailies The Globe and Mail, The Winnipeg Free Press and The Calgary Herald. Long resident in Calgary, where she worked as a freelance writer, editor, and college instructor, Millar now devotes herself full time to her own work.
