Brent Connelly was raised in the lower Ottawa Valley town of Brownsburg, Quebec.  In 1961, he obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Forestry from the University of New Brunswick and went on to enjoy a four-decade career working in the forests of Ontario’s two provincial parks crown jewels, Algonquin and Lake Superior Parks.

Brent was employed by McRae Lumber Co. Ltd. of Whitney, Ontario; Weyerhaeuser Canada Ltd. in Sault Ste. Marie and Mattawa, Ontario; and the Algonquin Forestry Authority in Pembroke, Ontario.  His retirement came in 2000 after twenty-five years with the Authority.

He is a life member of the Ontario Professional Foresters Association and a recipient of the Friends of Algonquin Directors award in recognition of a career dedicated to the enhancement of Algonquin Park values.

Brent and Heather, his wife of forty seven years (2015) now reside in Ottawa, Ontario. They have seven children, eleven grandchildren, and three great grandchildren.
