John “Chappy” Chapman

John was born in Stettler, Alberta and met his wife Janny there, sixteen years later. Together they raised two daughters and travelled throughout Canada and the United States, as John pursued a career in hockey. They settled in Lethbridge, Alberta.

When his hope for making the NHL as a player dissipated, John turned to coaching. John coached in both the Alberta Junior and Western Hockey Leagues and during those years, his teams won both League and Canadian Championships. During his twelve years of coaching he developed many future NHL players that went on to grest and notable success, including Hall of Famer Lanny McDonald.

Over the past thirty-two years, he has been involved in the NHL – employed by the New York Rangers, Tampa Bay Lightning, Florida Panthers, and the Philadelphia Flyers. His postions have included Director of Player Personnel, Player Development and both Amateur and Pro Scout.

John makes his home in Lethbridge, Alberts where he is often joined by his daughters and thier families, including six grandchildren.
