Addressing difficult topics out into the open in a straightforward, approachable way. The books in the series are intended to help make life easier for youngsters facing difficult experiences, whether a death in the family, the prospect of surgery or serious illness, or any of the other challenges children have to face when they and their families encounter us in the medical world.
The series will launch with five titles, focusing on preschool-age children, though our tests have shown that this approach is effective and satisfying for children of all ages into the early teens.
The First book in the series is The Big D: Explaining Death and Dying to Young Children. A book for adults to read to their young ones when faced with the death of a family member or close friend. Doctor Kelly’s philosophy of not sugar-coating or avoiding the difficult facts paves the way for greater peace and understanding for young and old alike. In addition to the read-aloud story, there is an Advice for Adults section offering guidance in answering the difficult questions the young ones ask when faced with a difficult mystery.
Future titles will include such topics as:
I am very excited about the potential this series has to make life easier for youngsters facing difficult experiences, whether a death in the family, the prospect of surgery or serious illness, or any of the other challenges children have to face when they and their families encounter us in the medical world.
I think there is broad appeal with this series, and I would be pleased to discuss wholesale purchases and distribution to your clients, patients and/or members. There is also an opportunity, given sufficient interest, to imprint the books you order with your organization’s logo identity.
So, if this sounds like something you would be interested in pursuing, send me a note by e-mail and we’ll set up a time to chat.
